Fikaware Ceramics
Fikaware Ceramics started out of a pure passion for surrounding yourself with beautiful things that make you happy. Many of us have the same routines everyday, and instead of reducing them to "mundane tasks," I learned to embrace the quiet, slow moments, and fill them with beauty and intentionality. The term "fika" is the daily coffee and cake break that is a large part of Swedish culture. This is their time to take a pause, refresh their brain, and spend time with others. Most importantly, fika is making the space to take care of yourself and be present.
Emma Lavaty
Emma has always felt a pull towards working with clay, but didn't take the steps to start until 2022. Before this, she got her masters in elementary education and has worked as a teacher full time for the past nine years. Feeling that ceramics could be that artistic outlet she had been searching for, she decided to take a one night wheel workshop and never looked back. After several additional classes, and hours (and hours and hours...) of watching pottery videos and tutorials, she was gifted a pottery wheel and never stopped making pieces. Emma lives with her husband, two children, and two dogs in Wake Forest, North Carolina. In her free time (haha), she enjoys reading, working on puzzles, getting her hands dirty with clay.
